Clifton L. Thomason

December 12, 1925 - February 17, 2010

Clifton L. Thomason, 84, of El Dorado passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at his residence.

He was born December 16, 1925 in Hampton, AR to William Authur Thomason and Bernie Benson Thomason. Clifton was an Army Veteran of WWII, worked as a custodian for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring, and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. His garden was his passion where he grew the best tomatoes in the county, he loved taking care of his Pine Plantation in Calhoun County but his biggest love of all was his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, Boyce, Jack & Travis Thomason and two sisters, Ionie Groce and Ethel Robbins.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Nell Thomason of El Dorado; daughter, Angela Thomason Woods and husband Jack of Jacksonville, TX; son, Terry Thomason and wife Gina of Rogers, AR; daughter, Paige Thomason Gordon and husband Wendell of Clear Lake, TX; granddaughters, Amanda Murphy of Oklahoma City, OK, Sarah Hudson of Garrison, TX, Willa Thomason of Rogers, AR and Hayley Gordon of Clear Lake, TX; sisters, Zoe Sherman of El Dorado, AR & Dorothy Shirey of El Dorado and brothers, Harold Thomason of Hampton, AR and J. C. Thomason of Marshall, TX.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Young’s Chapel with the Revs. Faron Rogers and Kay Ruddell officiating. Burial will follow at Means Cemetery in Hampton under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
