Kennon Freeland 96 of DeKalb, Texas formally of El Dorado, Arkansas passed away February 22, 2010 at the Life Touch Hospice House in El Dorado, Arkansas. Kennon was one of the oldest charter members of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Kennon was a homemaker who took great pride in her home and she loved to cook. Coconut cake was a specialty of hers. She worked outside of the home at Samples Department store and Gathrights Department Store for something to do.
Kennon loved painting on china and visiting with her friends and drinking coffee, in her later years when she got down she enjoyed playing cards.
She was born September 23, 1913 in Vivian, Louisiana to James Holland Morris and Evie Craver Morris.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband LeeRoy Freeland, son Larry Freeland, her sister Jeanettee Lindsey and husband Don of California, her brother James Henry (Jim) Morris and his wife Gerry Avalon Morris, her granddaughter Stephanie Kannaday, her niece Gwen Morris Costa.
Survivors include her grandson Mike Freeland Rice his wife Sherry Rice and daughter, Ashley of Redwater, Texas, Great-granddaughter, Kim and her husband Rufus Bragg of Georgia and their daughter Robin, Joyce Freeland Barr former daughter-in-law, Nephew State Representative Jim Morris and wife Kellie of Belcher, LA. Nephew, Bill Morris of Oil City, LA., Niece Karen Scott Mosby and husband Ted of Smackover, AR. She had Grand-nieces, Kelly Scott Unser and husband Kyle Unser of Fayetteville, AR. Ashton Morris of Conway, AR, Krispen Tirpitz-Morris of Shreveport, La. Kourtney Morris Tyson and husband Samuel of Oil City, La and one grand-nephew James Zachary Scott, of Fayetteville, AR. Joe Robertson and family were very special to her.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Faron Rogers and Kay Ruddell officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Life Touch Hospice, 2301 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, Arkansas and Immanuel Baptist Church.
