Biography

Joy Angeline Chenoweth, 80, of El Dorado and formerly of Smackover, died at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home on March 8, 2010.

Born in Griffin, Arkansas, on October 12, 1929, to Willis Wingfield Riffe and Elizabeth Gage Riffe, she was a florist at Flowersmith, a member of First United Methodist Church of Smackover, also a member of the Home Demonstration Club, on the Board of Directors of the Oil and Brine Museum, and she loved the Razorbacks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Albert Wilson Chenoweth Jr., and one sister, Elizabeth Pracht.

Survivors include two sons, Dub and his companion, Joyce Miller; and David Chenoweth and his wife, Janet, all of Smackover; one daughter, Judy and her husband, Mike “Shot Gun” Ellenburg of Louann; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles (Buddy) and Marilyn Chenoweth; six grandchildren, Jeri Lynn Champagne, Jenann Pearson, Mitchell Chenoweth, Lea Chenoweth, Mari Lawson and Nancy Ellenburg, six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at First Methodist Church of Smackover with Revs. Leon Dixon & O. D. Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be 6-8 P.M., Tuesday, March 9 at Young’s.

The family will be at 338 Ouachita Road 509, Louann, AR., or 203 E. 13th, Smackover, AR.
