Biography
Captola Marie “Cappy” Benson, 83, of El Dorado passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010, at home.
Born November 20, 1926, in Calhoun County, Mississippi to Hubert Edward Sulephen and Ernestine Shelton Sulephen, she worked as a nurse for 25 years, mostly at the Medical Center of South Arkansas, and volunteered at Oak Ridge Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of East Main Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two husbands, Joel P. Clary and Lee Roy Benson; and one brother, Bo Sulephen.
Survivors include three children, Joe Clary and wife Patti of Hammond, LA, Phillip Clary and wife Jean of Minden, LA and Sherry Prentice of Wagener, SC; a loving daughter-in-law, Dorinda Benson of El Dorado; two stepsons, Donny Benson of Texas and Johnny Benson of Louisiana; two sisters, Loretta Wylie of Fairfield Bay and Betty Cobb of Fordyce; one brother, Darrell Sulephen of Mountain View; 7 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be held at 10am Thursday, July 22, 2010, in Young’s Chapel with Dr. Benjy McCann officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
