Biography

Alice Eugenia Moon, 91, slipped softly and quietly off to heaven in her Father’s arms, Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. Alice was a long-time resident of Hobbs, New Mexico, but has spent the past two years in El Dorado at Timberlane Health and Rehab.

Alice was born in El Paso, Texas, February 4, 1919, and graduated from Celeste High School, Celeste, Texas. She made her home in Portales, New Mexico and raised her three children there. Alice was an avid reader, a gardener, a great cook, and spent the “retirement years” of her life enjoying traveling, fishing, and going to senior dances in the Hobbs, NM area. Her family and friends will miss her bright smile and fun-loving ways. She was Methodist and, wherever she lived, she shared many hours visiting shut-ins and folks in nursing homes.

Alice was preceded in death by her late husband, William E. Moon, her daughter, Frances C. Purcell Beasley, son-in-law, Jere Beasley, brothers, Ursi Hudson and Franklin Hudson and sisters, Anita Hudson and Altha Hudson.

Survivors include daughter, Becky Isbell and her husband, Johnny R. Isbell, son, Doyce M. Purcell, brother, Earl E. Hudson, and sisters, Lela Hudson Honkonen, Creta Hudson Mertz and Aline Hudson Manning. Alice will also be missed by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation and celebration of Alice’s life will be in the Magnolia Room of Young’s Funeral Directors on Saturday, July 31st, between 6 and 8 PM. Alice’s final resting place will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery, Hobbs, New Mexico at 2 p.m.on Friday August 6, 2010 in the Prairie Haven Chapel.
