Biography

Patsy “Pat” Jean Burton White passed away July 27, in El Dorado, Arkansas.

She was born in Strong, Arkansas on August 10, to the late Orion Wesley Burton and Nancy Ham Burton. She was the wife of J. M. White for 61 years.

She was a member of the Mt. Union Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir for many years.

Mrs. White was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a very productive woman who stayed busy. She worked with several individuals to start the Mt. Union Baseball team for the young men of the community. She also worked hard for the Union County 4-H Club, working with her grandchildren and helping in anyway she was needed.

Ms. White helped start the Union County Cattlemen’s Association of which she was an active member for several years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Nellie, Nora, Nina and Dollie; and one brother James.

She is survived by her husband, J.M. White; her son, Robert O. White and daughter-in-law Becky White; and her daughter Viola Hilyard; grandchildren, Ray Hilyard, Trish Kooms, and her husband James, Chad White, and his wife Melissa, Rhonda Thurlkill and her husband Chris, Kimberly Irizarry and her husband Tim; great-grandchildren include Magen and Justin Kooms, Ryne and Jessica Thurlkill, Tess Monteite, Erin, Anna and Isabella Irizarry, and one sister, Beth Cook of Louisiana; two brothers, Noah Burton of El Dorado, Arkansas and Buddy Burton of Hermitage, Arkansas.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 29, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be at Mount Union Baptist Church Friday, July 30 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Buddy Burton and Rev. Leroy Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
